Boo and Jynx

We decided we couldn't have our tree up this year after both the cats had climbed it and knocked it down within a few minutes. So, we made a tree for our wall out of cardboard and they like to lay under it, but otherwise they leave it alone. We miss our tree/ornaments - but the cats are safe this way :) They are best of friends - very glad we adopted the brothers - they keep each other entertained and we have very few behavior issues. They have bonded well with the family (people and dogs) and have added lots of love and fun to our lives.

Oliver (Ringo)

In general, Oliver (the kitten formerly known as Ringo) has been a great addition to our family. He gets along so great with our dog Hugo. They play constantly. He's even gotten our older, grumpy cat, Oscar, to engage in play. He's just the most tenacious little guy.

We recently adopted Max the adorable white kitten! We wanted to send you a email full of photos! Max is such a blessing. He sleeps with me every night and since my fiance works overnights its so nice to have someone to cuddle with. We knew max would be a amazing fit for our family just by looking at his picture online. He is so loving and so sweet. He adores our two white boxers and hangs out with them all the time. Max has his quirks. We learned quickly he loves to be under the covers he only felt safe the first day or two tucked in my shirt or under a blanket. So I thought well ill get him a sweater maybe then he will feel safer. We all be it worked. Now i cant get max out of a sweater. I change them and he goes crazy he gets all angry and nervous. Sweaters have become his safety net and on them hes unstoppable. He will interact with the family and dogs. He is so spoiled soon he will have more sweaters then me. I learned to knit just so i can make him clothes! He is such a great cat. He acts just like a dog and thats the best kind of cat! I have attached photos of max and one adorable one of max with his sister seirra a boxer pit mix and his brother landon a boxer! Udiya (Daisy)

I know I filled out the survey before, but wanted to email you now

that we have pictures to share! :) Daisy (now Udiya, pronounced

you-dye-ya) is doing fantastic! She settled in very quickly and is

very friendly, but easygoing. She is very vocal (which we love!) and

will ask for a treat by talking and trying to grab the treat bag! She

can frequently be found snuggled up to either our dog or our two house

rabbits and like to sit on laps and purr whenever possible.

She has learned her new name, "sit" and "paws" (nicely pat your hand

with her paws) for treats or petting, which makes it even more fun to

introduce her to new people. We have also learned that while she

completely ignores catnip, fabric mice are her favorite toy, closely

followed by tinfoil balls.

We cannot be happier with her addition to our pet family, thank you!

Chloe and Guinness

I've attached two "action" shots of Chloe and Guinness. They have brought such joy to our lives. We've set up several window seats for Chloe, and she loves to watch the birds and squirrels all day. She's our "shy" girl, and loves sleeping on her heated bed. Guinness is our lover boy and loves attention. We "hunt" with him with his feather toy every day (although he tends to destroy them quickly). He's also our big boy at 15+ pounds and we have seriously considered getting a king-sized bed since he is now crowding us out every night, haha! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to adopt these wonderful kitties. Let us know if you need anything else.

Guapo (Snooks)

I wanted to give you an update on Guapo (formerly known as Snooks). He is doing really well here at his new home. Actually, he's very easy-going and adjusted quite quickly. His new kitty friend, Irie, is still a little unsure of him at times, but she has grown to love him. They like to wrestle, chase each other, and go outside and explore (supervised only!). Guapo enjoys eating cardboard, chewing on your nose and hair very early in the morning, and playing with a red shoestring. He is a very sweet kitty and we love him so much.

Sora (Sunbear)

Some photos to share with supporters about the happy life that Sora, our store cat, enjoys at Wild Birds Unlimited. Everyone comments that it's unusual to have a cat in a bird store. Actually, we don't sell any live birds, so we tell customers that it's a perfect match because a good cat is an indoor cat. We only sell products to feed wild birds outdoors.

She loves to sleep in the birdbaths that are out near our front windows and soak up the sunshine in the afternoon. On windy days she likes to sit on the front counter and greet customers. This little cat is so wonderful and we couldn't be happier to have her in our family of staff and customers.

Diego and Harley

I wanted to give you all an update about Diego and Harley, FCCR&SNC cats that were looking for barn homes a while ago. After spending months in the shelter, Diego had just about had it. And Harley remained painfully shy after her kittens were adopted out. When my daughter Jennifer wanted to adopt barn cats she called FCCR and discovered Diego and Harley were available.

Settling in and adjusting took the two cats awhile and included being bullied by a neighbor cat, getting used to those big animals (horses) and the noise of several visiting chickens as well as grandkids. Long story short, Diego had to recover from an abscess from the night he met up with the bully cat. But he was lucky. It turned out he was not happy in the barn and after rehabilitation in Jennifer’s house he convinced everyone he was going to stay there. He follows everyone around, purrs up a storm, and has explored the upstairs (he resides in a large basement lit by several windows)The best part is that he joined a family Saturday morning romp in a bedroom and hangs out on the bathroom floor, waiting for Jennifer to finish her shower. He has become a part of a family, doesn’t seem to care about going outside, and the best part is that he is not in a cage anymore.

It was harder for HARLEQUIN (HARLEY). She tolerated attention and petting from the first but wanted to wander outside the barn too. When Diego moved out of the barn we had to look for her several times. She would show up for dinner but I had to trap her to discover if it was her eating the food I left in the barn. It was. But pretty soon we would go days without seeing her. Then another neighbor told me she was living in their garage and barn. But I still was not sure it was Harley until just a few days ago. (end of October) I got a clear view of her running across our back yard toward the barn, a Tortie with a patch of white on the tip of her tail. My daughter also saw her hunting in the field outside their house earlier that month. Harley is happily living her life outside with several families keeping an eye on her. I still call for her every day and hope she will show up outside my door, but it seems she has chosen her life, as an outdoor cat, free to go where she pleases.

We adopted a kitty named Poppy back in March. We decided to giver her a new name - Cleopatra Poppy Nabours, but she goes by Cleo for short. She's doing great and has been a wonderful addition to our family. She's such a friendly, easy going cat. She loves our two girls, and even plays with our dog. It's a real treat having her around the house!

Stretch (Liono)

I'll attach some photos of Stretch (formerly Liono, he stretches every time he stands up, rolls over, etc.) Also in the pictures is Dante (formerly Gizmo who was adopted from you as a kitten by my boyfriend about a year ago). We got so lucky with both of them, they are the best of friends. They cuddle and play together constantly. Stretch's hair is almost completely back in, and we have found that he has a definite thing for plastic bags and catnip. He also has a thing for sleeping on our shoes and snuggles his nose into them, sleeping for hours like that. He has taught Dante many good cat things from catnip to wrestling to sleeping in bed with us, and he definitely rules the roost around here.

I just wanted to send you a pic of Chedders and our boxer pup Ace. They became fast friends and chase each other around the house and yard daily. Chedders loves to rub on Ace and snuggle with him when Ace gives him the chance. Our seven year old daughter, Summer, loves him. Especially in the morning when Chedders helps me wake her up for school. Thank you so much for the new family member! He is a great cat and will be loved for many years to come.

Our new family member "Mikkie" is doing great. Her new name is "Skittles". Skittles has learned the entire house. She follows Elvis everywhere. He is teaching her all the great tricks. He loves her. We also have 5 guinea pigs that we rescued and a bunny. Skittles has made friends with them all. Our female cat Priscilla is doing her best. She is taking her time getting to know the new baby but she is trying.

In early January I adopted little black kitten Zeta, but I found that that name didn't quite match her, she has dark chocolate tabby-markings in her fur that are really visible in florescent lighting. So I renamed her Rune. When we first brought her home she wasn't all that scared, sure being in a new environment was scary and all, but she quickly adapted to our apartment. What was really shocking was when she met our older, and much larger cat, Sherwood, for the first time. We expected her to hiss, run away, and/or cower in fear...nope. She walked right up to him and began rubbing against him, he was freaked out by her bold display and was the one to hiss and run away. But after a few weeks they became the best of buddies. Now we can't keep them apart! She has been the absolute perfect addition to the family, her personality is just right and when I'm on the computer late at night for school, she'll curl up in my lap and purr herself to sleep. I'm the happiest cat mama of two and want to thank you all at the Fort Collins Cat Rescue for giving me the best little kitty in the world!

Gracie (Nala)

Hi! My name is Gracie. When I lived at the rescue my name was Nala. I have lived in my new home for almost 3 months. I was really scared when I first moved to my forever home. I basically lived under the bed for a week, I would only come out to use my cat box. Now that I have realized that I am going to live here for the rest of my life, I have become more at home. I love to run around the entire house like a crazy cat. I especially love running up and down the stairs at top speed. I can run really fast. I can't jump too high, though. My mommy thinks I'm not able to jump real high because of the damage to my back end. If you don't know my story, I was an abused little kitten. Someone witnessed me being thrown from a car when I was a couple of months old. I'm so glad the rescue was nice enough to come and get me and nurse me back to health. I also had a really nice foster mom who took care of me for a few months. I still get afraid of my new daddy sometimes, because I have bad memories of a man being mean to me. My daddy has lots of patience and can't wait until I trust him 100%. I know I will get there, it will just take me some time. I have gained about 4 pounds since I was adopted. My daddy says I have a big belly, I guess that's because my favorite hobby is eating. I love to eat, play, take naps and eat. My mommy has included a few pictures of me. Most of them are when I am asleep, because every time she tries to take a picture of me when I'm awake, it comes out blurry. I guess that's because I don't like to sit still when I'm awake. I would like to say thank you to everyone that has helped me in my life. I know I'm only about 7 months old, but I sure have a lot of people to thank for taking care of me. I adopted Angel after Christmas 2010. The moment I saw her I knew she was the right one for me, my roommate Jessica, and Taz.

Our family couldn't be happier with our new baby kitty. Her name is Greysie. (You knew her as Adelaide). We adopted her on Christmas eve. She rules the roost around her now. She is especially cuddly with my son, age 7. Having this baby kitty around has brought out his tender, gentle side. He is so loving with her. Our three-year old daughter loves to play with her too. And she has given a new sparkle in the eye of our old cat, Ondine, who has gotten much more playful and social!

I adopted Ian just last month, and already can't imagine my life without him. He was a little shy at first, and was terrified of our two dogs, because of a bad experience with a mean dog. But now he's adjusted well, and he's my little prince. One of the best things I ever did was bring him into my life. He loves curling up in my lap and sleep anytime of the day and could probably stay there all day. He makes life worthwhile and I love him to bits!

Cat Rescue,

Fishstick (Sugar Mama) and Pilchard

Fishstick (formerly Sugar Mamma) and Pilchard are doing wonderfully with Liam and I. We most often refer to them as Big Fuzz (Pilchard) and Little Fuzz (Fishstick). They are both awesome and very loving cats, and beyond loving us, the love each other, too! They play together all the time and Fishstick often grooms Pilchard, it's cute. Fishstick has deemed herself "the boss" (usually in food matters), and Pilchard accepts that--except when I decide she's being a glutton and ensure Pilchard gets the same snacks!

Neither of these beauties have ever left our place, and while Pilchard is happy to stay inside, Fishstick has an adventurous streak in her & wants to go outside. This has not happened, and we're working hard to ensure it never does!

I can't tell you how happy we are that Big Fuzz and Little Fuzz are members of our family, they sleep on Liam's bed at night, and we love them dearly!

I have included a picture of them snuggling on the couch last night. What a great match with us, and each other!!

Finally found a minute to update on "Nova" (previously Norton). I have attached a couple of photos, you can see he is really growning up fast! He loves catching a nap in a sunbeam...no matter where it is (like on the table where he is not supposed to be:)). He has become quite the hunter...catching and releasing flies!;0 We just brought a 7 week old lab puppy home 2 weeks ago and they are BFF! They play hide and seek (or in Nova's case "ambush") and tag til they both need a nap. "Nova" also loves to sit with me by our Koi pond and watch all the colorful fish.....I think he may be plotting against them tho!:)

His hair is getting long and silky and he is really good at keeping it groomed. He was named "Nova" because our daughter thought his big sparkling eyes looked the the super nova. He's just great!

Izzie & Leo (previously Morea & Hooper)

Hello FCCR!

I know that you like to occassionally hear updates from your kitties, and I also used to volunteer there so just wanted to say hello! I adopted Izzie (formerly Morea) and Leo (formerly Hooper) as kittens a couple of years ago--the first adoption led to me volunteering, and volunteering led to the second adoption:) Last August (2009) we moved our family back to Minnesota to be closer to parents and friends, although we've missed Colorado very much. Izzie and Leo did NOT appreciate the 14 hour car ride--Leo mewed his heart out for most of the trip. The attached picture was taken about a week after we had moved back, and as you can see I think they were so relieved to have life back to normal!

Both kitties have been such a joy to have in our lives. Leo unfortunately had some health problems this past summer--he had a blocked urinary tract which luckily we got taken care of before it became a big issue, but now he's on a special diet for the foreseeable future. He made it through the ordeal just fine, and seems to be doing better than ever. He loves to cuddle in bed with us in the morning, and even will drool a little bit when he is REALLY happy:) Izzie still has some skittish moments, but her favorite thing to do is sit on my chest while I am reading in bed at night, and try to get me to stop reading and pet her. I'm forever grateful that we found these two love-bugs during our brief stay living out in Colorado! Thank you for all the work that you do for kitties in the Fort Collins area, and I hope the organization continues to grow!

We love our new kitty she was Nappy but we named her Cairo because we saw the king tut exhibit at the time we adopted her. She is the sweetest kitty. The whole family loves her. Our vet says that her heart murmur has disappeared so we are very happy. Thanks again for letting us adopt her. She is a wonderful member of the family.

hello all at fort collins cat rescue! fennel & i have settled in (i moved to fort collins from philadelphia only a few days before i adopted him) & we're great friends. he likes to get into the cupboards, sit in the window, and play with his toy mice. he's very affectionate & very active. he talks quite a bit when i come home & follows me around. he loves to really stretch out when he sleeps as opposed to curling up in a little cat-ball -- his back feet are particularly adorable when he does this!

Cieara Rose & Laila Violet

We adopted these two little girls the day before Mother's Day. Cieara Rose has a white "bikini" and a sparse clump of white fur on her throat, along with white hairs coming out of her ears. Cieara is Welsh for "dark" or "black". Laila Violet has a very sparse clump of white fur in the groin area and just a few stray white hairs on her throat. Laila is Hebrew for "night". They know their names and will usually come when called, unless they are really comfortable and sleepy and can't be bothered with humans. We call them the "Dynamic Duo" or the "Bat Girls", but they are growing into their ears now. We also have other cats in the house and the integration of the two new kittens into a household with much older cats has been challenging. For the most part, they get along pretty well and will share space occasionally. DArtagnon, our large tuxedo male cat , plays chase and swat with them every morning, but he doesn't like sharing Mom's bed in the early morning hours when the Dynamic Duo start stampeding all over the prone bodies in the bed, including his! Laila Violet's favorite napping spot is on "Bruno" our extremely large stuffed St. Bernard dog toy. Cieara Rose likes the back of the couch, one of the many cat baskets we have scattered around the living room and her Mom's lap. They have more than doubled their weight from 2.5 lbs to over 5 lbs. each and are about 6 months old. We think they are adorable!

Dyno (previously Dynamite)

Hi Sarah,

Dyno is doing great! He is (still) the best kitty ever. I keep thinking I need to send you guys a "formal" email update but just haven't had a chance to yet.

Let's see; Dyno and Sophie (our golden retriever and self appointed "house zoo" mom) have bonded and are very close. Sophie likes to lick Dyno clean and, as a result, he stays very well groomed :-). Sophie also like to get on to Dyno when he does something wrong - which sometimes offends Dyno's independent kitty-sensibilities. However, Dyno loves to attack Sophie's long swishy tail - especially when she's just walking through the house or in the middle of the night when she's dreaming - so I figure "all's fair in love and war" :-).

Dyno and Mr. Bojangles (our pug) are not as close as Dyno and Sophie are. I think Bo is still holding a grudge from when Dyno "snubbed" him the first few days after we brought Dyno home. It doesn't help that one of Dyno's favorite games to play is the "chase Bo and beat him about the face and/or steal his special ball then run off" game lol. But they do get along pretty well now...even if they aggravate the stew out of each other in the process. :-) We will most definitely be pleased with a longterm frien-emy relationship between those two (and appreciate the avoidance of any all-out wars)!

Dyno's eyes continued to give him some problems even after we finished all medicine he came home with. Ms. Natalie (our vet friend) put him on another round of medication though and, even though they still occasionally act up, they're doing much better now.

Dyno eats like a lion! We've noticed he's a stress eater and is lacking a little in the control department when it comes to food lol! On the weekends if someone hasn't gotten up to give him his wet food by 8:00 AM he will make his rounds - yelling, batting at our eyelashes and attacking our toes - until someone wakes up and gets him his "breakfast" (even though he has a full bowl of dry food sitting there) :-).

He is still a floppy little love ball. He is also going to be HUGE!

Sparrow (previously Shrimp)

We adopted Shrimp at the beginning of July. She has a new name now - we call her Sparrow because she's the color of a female sparrow and makes a sweet chirping noise when she wants to be picked up. She also loves sitting at our sliding glass door and watching the sparrows, and all the other birds, at our feeder.

Sparrow is doing great. She's got a big personality, loves to play, loves to cuddle and is madly in love with our dog. She follows him around and copies everything that he does, much to his chagrin. She's healthy and has settled into our family well.

Violet is awesome, she fits in just great into our family :) I got her mostly to ease the pressure on my older cat, Molly, my younger cat, Jersey tends to abuse her so I was hoping getting another cat would help Molly out and it has. Violet is not only great friends with Jersey but also with my dog R Lo, she adores him and follows him around. I am also pleased to say she got a clean bill of health from the vet :) Attached are some pictures.

Midnight

I adopted Midnight back in the Spring. He is doing great now and is a valued member of the family. I got him to be a companion for my other cat, (who was very lonely due to the death of my 18 yo cat). Midnight required a full 2 months to acclimate, to his new home. When I brought him home, my intention was to put him in a small room in the downstairs for a day or so, in order for the two cats to get used to each other, through a closed door. Midnight however, was too fast for me and he got out into the family room and under the furniture. He spent the next month, hiding from me (and the other cat), by running from (under) one couch to another. He hid and would have no interaction for a good month and one half (even though, I kept going downstairs trying to get him accustomed to me and trying to entice him with toys and treats).
We were at about 45-50 days the first time he came out and actually let me pet him but it was a very slow go! He could not be coaxed upstairs for another couple of weeks. He was very skittish and distrusting. He would venture upstairs but stay on the top step and retreat rapidly to his hiding places downstairs for the next couple of weeks. Finally, he could stand the curiosity no longer, and ventured into the upstairs. It was a "red letter day" and since then, he has really blossomed! He is a very social guy now, loves to play and crawl into my lap for attention. It was a long process but well worth it. He is a great cat! He and the other cat have bonded and play daily. I have attached a picture and you can see he has made himself at home…. finally.

Hi, Sarah, so sorry that I haven't responded earlier. Life, the kids returning to school, etc. got in the way.

Both of the kitties we adopted are doing great. Romilly (called Milly, her name was Spooner at the rescue) took quite awhile to gain weight. We took her to the vet a few times to run some tests and nothing came up. She is just destined to be a tiny little girl. Finally we got her to bulk up a little with canned food, whole milk yogurt and shrimp. She is up 12 oz since June. She is the snuggliest kitten, very calm and sweet.

Feisty McCartney is exactly the opposite. We kept the name and call him Mac ... Mac the Truck fits because he has gained two pounds in the same amount of time. He is very playful and drives Milly and our older cat, Mookie, a bit nuts, but our three boys love to play with him because he is the most energetic of the three.

Hi Sarah,

We adopted Varuca Salt (now named ZuZu) on June 26th. She is doing really well. She is still very skittish and cautious but likes to snuggle with the kids when they are reading and will always come when we shake her food conatiner. She took quite a while to adjust to our other cat (Maisy) who was resuced from the Humane Society but now they are pretty good buddies. They like to chase each other in the morning, and Maisy will even let ZuZu eat out of her bowl with her and vice-versa. ZuZu is gaining weight and still has a voracious appetite - so we have adjusted her eating habits so she doesn't overdo it! Our dog (Sammie) likes ZuZu but she is indifferent to Sammie, at least for now.

Attached are some pics of ZuZu ! One with our daughter, and one of ZuZu relaxing on "her" bed. I'd say she is happy here.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys! I wanted to let you know that Kingsley, formerly Topsy, is doing great. He is incredibly playful and affectionate. He came into our house and from day one he has been incredibly energetic. He gets along well with Edgar, our other youngish male cat, they play together all the time. He plays really hard and then he passes out for hours on end.

He is very handsome and has grown quite a bit already. He has been a wonderful addition to our family.

We adopted Max (previously Fuzzy) in June. Our older cat, who was 5 when we rescued her from the Humane Society, was a little slow to warm up to him, but he persisted (as he does with everything!) and now they get along great. He is such a sweetie, is always purring and playing and into something somewhere. He likes to sleep in the bathroom sink and sit on my shoulder when I'm at the computer...don't know how that will go once he hits 8 or 9 pounds, lol! His favorite toy is, of course, the other cat and a plain brown paper bag, although he can seriously have a good time playing with a piece of fuzz. We sometimes think we should have named him 'Tigger' because Tigger's bounce and he is definitely a bouncer/pouncer boy! I am sending you 2 pics, one of him and one of them both playing. Everyone loves Max, and we always recommend anyone who is looking for a cat to check out FCCR and consider an older cat as well...we feel very fortunate to have two such wonderful personalities that we can count on to make us smile and laugh every day!!

Slick here. You may know me as Ebony. My adoptive family re-named me Slick, after the BP oil slick. These people have a sense of humor. I love it at my new home. I get to sleep on Mom's bed and snuggle with her every night. She says I am the best snuggler ever. I press against her back and lay my head on her neck. How Cozy.

As you can see, I have a nice place to eat, which is something I really enjoy. I have put on some weight but am still a very trim young man.

I have a perch at the upstairs window. I lay and watch the world go by from there. It is very peaceful.

My step sister is a DOG.. YUCK! We get along now and play. I actually taught my sister how to play with a ball. Before I came she never would play..she saw how I was doing it and stole my toys. So I stole her tennis ball (she was not using it anyway) Then Mom heard something in the living room and low and behold the DOG was playing with the ball. I taught her that.

Mom is right now digging my toys out from under her dresser. We play go fetch a lot. Then I bat the toys under the dresser. Hey MOM, make sure you get the purple one.

Well, I just wanted to say Thanks, for rescuing me and giving me a place to stay before I found my forever home. I sure appreciate it. And Mom says thanks for putting me on sale..she says I am the best discount she ever bought.

Since adopting Satine, everything has been going great. After losing our last kitty, Satine has been an amazing little girl to get to know. She adjusted very quickly into our little house. It has been interesting getting to know her irks and quirks that come along with a younger kitty. We have had to re-kitty proof the house. She is full of energy and always looking for a new toy. Some of her favorites are a ribbon, track ball, and puzzle treat ball. She also likes watching the birds out the window. She stalks them from inside the house & "kitty chirps" as if she's hunting.

We adopted Othello back in May…this is my first email from the FCCR, but I wanted to let you all know “Kogi” is doing awesome! We couldn’t have asked for a better kitty! He does eat a lot throughout the day (he’s always crying for food and gets fed about 5-6 times a day, sometimes more!) We are keeping our eye on his weight and will modify his feedings accordingly, but so far, he’s so active that his weight seems to be on track.

Kogi loves to play with our friend’s puppy, Hooligan, and had a chance to play every day with him for two straight weeks! Because they miss playing with each other, we are scheduling weekly playdates with our friend so they can get their fill of doggy-kitty playtime.

Aside from playing with Hooligan, Kogi loves to

Hide in boxes or bags

Play with just about anything that moves, sometimes he even plays with his food!

Sleep in our closet, on the bathroom floor where it's nice and cool, or on my head

I adopted Pepper but we appropriately re-named him Mojo....he never stops strutting his stuff around the house! He is quite the stud muffin and he knows it (check out the picture of him winking, which he does often). It took him less than an hour in his new home to adjust and quickly become king of the place. Mojo never stops playing and my mom has created an endless supply of toys for him but he prefers to hide behind things and attack your feet when you go by. He also has his own two story home that he sleeps on top of if he isn't snuggling with my dog Jelly or on my dads stomach. Some of his favorite past times are playing with his stuffed animal monkey, helping out in the garden by chasing bugs, attacking your hair, attacking your nose, attacking your glasses, attacking everything (he wears a bell now so his attacks aren't suprise anymore!), and sleeping in my moms art box while she paints. The whole household and everyone who meets him falls head over heels for this sweet boy, we couldn't be happier! -The Schrader family :)

I have had Ellie for a few months now, and she's great. She always greets me at the door when I walk in the door by rolling around on the kitchen floor, plays constantly, and cuddles at night. Everyone who comes to visit me loves her, and complements me on her coloring. She's a sweetheart, but also really feisty. She is doing great though, and I have had almost no problems with her, other than a few training and behavioral problems, like getting on the counter, or digging in my plants, but those are generally a quick fix with a squirt bottle. Thanks for all your help assisting me in finding such a great cat!

Charlie has settled in great with his new family. His first night was scary and trying, but he made it through like a real trooper. Since then, he has made himself at home and became King Cat (he is the only cat in the house).

He enjoys playing with all his toys as well as Toto's toys. His new friend, Toto, is a greyhound. Some nights he likes to tease Toto and basically gets ignored by Toto. It is fun to watch him "try" to get his attention and then after a bit, he gives up and moves on to the toys. His favorite toys are a ball of tin foil and plastic balls with bells in them. He likes to pick them up with his teeth and move them to the room in which he wishes to play in. He loves toys that have feathers or balls on the end of a string because this requires me to play with him! He loves the "mom" time.

When he's had enough play time, he jumps into his mom's lap (me) and takes a nap. As he first jumps into my lap, he gives me a nice "I Love You" head butt. It's real cool. His personality keeps shining through each day. So much joy to watch them grow, learn, and become their own little self.

Hey Sarah -

Just wanted to touch base with you and let you know Bernard is doing great! He is the most confident, calm, and social cat I have met! He lasted being in a separate room for all of about 18 hours, then we kinda let him dictate the introductions, and we had a completely integrated household in less than 36 hours...

He is so confident around the house and acts like he's lived here forever (as you can see in the picture). Two of our dogs act like he's been part of the family forever too, and the 3rd is being very curious but respectful. Katie the cat hasn't warmed up to him yet, but even as she runs past him and hisses, he just stares at her like he knows they are soon going to be friends.

No matter what room we are in, Bernard is there, just hanging out with us. He loves to chill on the back of the couch and look out the window and listen to the birds. He reminds me so much of my cat Cinder, who was also missing a canine tooth, and when she yawned - just like Bernard - her upper lip got stuck on her gum. He is just so adorable! And, no intestinal issues so far! I think he is very relaxed/non-stressed and happy to be here! And we are just thrilled with him, so thank you for suggesting him!

The last 3 months of Windy's life was filled with running and playing. I had not seen her so full of kitten in so long. We adopted KoKo the kitten from FCCR about 3 weeks ago. We renamed her Ember (Emmy for short). I was worried that maybe Moo (1 year old and neutered at your clinic) wouldn't like her. As it turned out, he just loved her, but all she would do is hiss and spit and look like a tiny Halloween cat! His feelings were hurt! But now they've grown to love one another. He even shares his perch with her, as you can see from the photos I've attached.

Hello Sarah,

I am more than happy to tell you about the cats we adopted from the rescue. My husband, Larry, and I adopted Moppet (We renamed her Vesper) in October and Cecil in January. Vesper will be a year in June and she is the sweetest cat I have every known. She gives "kisses" and loves to be held and carried around like a baby. She was getting a bit fat so we had to start regulating her food intake and she is now back down to a better weight. She seemed like she wasn't getting enough attention so we got Cecil to be her play-mate. It took them about 3 weeks before they could be in the house together. Now they are mostly indifferent to each other aside from the occasional bath. Speaking of baths, Vesper hates them and Cecil, though he doesn't like them much either, purrs through them. When we first got Cecil from the shelter, he had herpes and his eye was acting up a bit. Well, several hundred dollars and many vet visits later, it turns out Cecil doesn't have tear ducts. The cause is unclear, it could be from scarring from the herpes, a birth defect, etc. So we clean his eye twice a day to prevent infections. Other than that, he is the cutest cat I have ever seen which has saved his life many times as he is also a very bad cat (of course, I say this with love). He isn't deterred by the classic water bottle, loud noises, etc but he seems to be getting better with age. He is very playful but doesn't like to be held much. Thanks for asking! I have attached pictures of both cats for you!

Kiwi, renamed Spook is doing very well. He is lively and naughty (like getting up on counters and digging in the dirt of potted plants). He loves his big brother (cat) and the two took to each other immediately. They roll around and chew on each other and have a great time. Spook has a good disposition and has never shown any aggression. Spook will let me pet him if he is eating or in a chair. In just the last few days has allowed me once or twice to lean over and pet him — he usually moves away from me when I lean over him ( a clearly understandable behavior). He is definitely not afraid of me – just cautious . He does hide when other people are in the house. I am really enjoying him and all signs point to him being a happy little cat. I am including two pictures I took of him this morning and yesterday.

Hi there Sarah! Sorry for the delay. Nicky as you knew him (the white lynx point siamese cat) is doing great!

He's still looking like a kitty somewhat but he's sweet and very loving. He's almost lost all his wild side from being out on the street.

Within the past few days he just now started going out onto our porch balcony and he stares at cars and people and other animals. He loves it. As I speak he's laying down in the sun on the porch watching the parking lot lol.

He's really playful and hasn't been destructive at all (thank god). I feed him "newmans own" organic kitty food which is very good for him.

oh and I named him "Kraisee" pronounced "cry-see". it means "lion" in Thai.

I do have lots of photos of him. I can take one now of him on the balcony and send it in a separate email.

Hi Sarah,

Our kitten is doing great. He was named Elf at the shelter and we renamed him Buddy (in honor of the Will Farrel movie Elf). He has adapted well and is pretty much running the show at this point. Our dog was SO excited to have a new friend in the house and they get along quite well. Buddy loves to play with her big fluffy tail. Our older cat was not so excited at Buddy's arrival, but she tolerates him and sometimes now they even sleep together on my bed.

He loves to eat and play and eat some more and is very cuddly. In the evenings he is always in someone's lap. I've attached a few pictures of him as well. I think all of the most recent pics are on my phone though so I don't know how to email those :-)

The only issue we've had is that he had problems with his eyes. The vet said it's pretty common with "barn" cats and gave us some nutritional supplement stuff and eye ointment to treat him with whenever he has a flare up. Other than that, he's getting bigger and adjusting well.

Beans (nee Rutgers) is doing great! She was so shy when we first got her, but she has totally come out of her shell and has a great little personality. She purrs every time anyone pays attention to her, and loves her brother Steve - they wrestle, bathe each other, and cuddle all the time. Her best trick is playing fetch with hair ties! We are so glad she is a part of our family!

Bella (formerly Baby)

"Bella" (fka "Baby") is doing great. She was a very shy and scared cat for a while, and it didn't help that my other cat was not quick to make friends, but now they get along fabulously. They run around playing, they hang out watching stuff out the window and they groom each other from time to time. A favorite activity for the cats is to do wind sprints from the living room to the bedroom and back to the living room. All the better if its in the middle of the night.

Bella has lost some of her extra weight, probably just from all the exercise and still eats real well. She has the tiniest little meek "meow" that she'll share from time to time, but other than that she's very quiet and still fairly shy. She's definitely the "let her come to you" kind of cat, but she will snuggle up and purr once she's confident you're her buddy. I'm glad to have been able to adopt her after she was at the shelter so long.

Jinx is wonderful and we are all enjoying each other. He adapted virtually immediately into our household and is curious, lovable, and playful. You can see from the photo that he and our Great Pyrenees have become great friends.

Milo (formerly Butternut)

Hi Sarah,

Our kitten, who is now known as Milo is doing great. We had an initial adjustment period with the dog, although most of the adjustment was done by the dog. Now, they are best friends. In fact, we use to keep our dog (Crash) closed in the mud room while we were gone, but Milo would spend the day sitting next to the door to be with Crash. Now we leave them both out together and generally come home to find them both squeezed onto the dog bed in the mud room. Milo is a very affectionate cat, who loves to sit in my lap and purr. He does not like to be picked up, but prefers to cuddle on his own terms. He is great friends with our daughter (11), but stays clear of larger groups of children. Milo has become and important member of our family, and we are so glad to have him.

I wish I had better pictures for you. In the most recent photo he's wearing Easter ears (we apologize for the undignified treatment, but it was brief), and in the others he's still fairly young.

We adopted Lucca and Penelope at the same time. We liked the names they were given so we kept them. At first Lucca was very timid and shy but he has most definitely become a cuddle bug. Penelope has never been timid, but always a bundle of joy. We sometimes call her Stinky P as she can have some stinky kitty farts, but most of the time we call her Sweet P or Penelope Pitstop. Our two older cats have learned to "tolerate" the kittens and my three children absolutely adore having kittens in the house. I'd say our family is complete with these two sweethearts!

Midnight (formerly Seymour)

Midnight was found as a stray by one of our former employees (and now volunteer), Debbie. He was in her backyard eating bird seed. He was literally starving. Here is an update on this sweet guy! - Sarah

Dear Debbie,

I am so glad for your note and concern. I have wondered about you so frequently. Seymour (now Midnight...named by our daughter) is doing wonderfully. He was very sick, and emaciated. He'd throw up regularly - through ...I'd say December...then eventually that faded away. (thank goodness) His coat is incredible.(glossy and fluffy) In addition he has put on weight and then some. In the beginning he would eat anything we gave him, including trying to steal food from the pantry, table and counters, now he has his favorites and is very content. He is a really good kitty, very mellow (he doesn't even run from the vacuum) and confident. I love him dearly. I keep telling people " I never knew I was such a cat person". Oh yeah, he is a great snuggler.
It may be my imagination but he looks at me and treats me as though he is truly grateful for the care I have given him.

I often wonder what his story is? We think he must have been loved and spoiled before he came to us due to some of his idiosyncrasies. He has traits indicating to us he was incredibly cared for. The sound of a can opener or a treat bag being opened brings him running. He doesn't jump on the counters or table nor is he frightened of Lucy our lab. I just hope someone is not looking and waiting for him.

He really is a great friend.

Samson & Chloe (formerly Sparrow & Robin)

Thanks for your email. Our kitties that we adopted are AWESOME! We renamed them Chloe and Samson and they are the BEST cats we have ever had BY FAR! They are adorable, healthy, loving, funny and cute as they can be! They love to play, sleep and eat and they love to snuggle with each other and with us!!! We thank you very much for them, we are thrilled to have them in our family! They are enjoying being by the windows and looking outside and watching birds and all the fun things that Spring brings...
Samson is way bigger than Chloe. He is taller and longer and Chloe has stayed smaller. Their colorings and markings are beautiful! Can you tell we are thrilled?

Our cat was named Puffin at the FCCR. We have since named him Weston.
He loves hanging out with our American Bulldog, looking out the windows, and eating!
We took him to our vet after we got him and he is in perfect health.

Jazzie (formerly Maria) & Ollie (formerly Jelly Bean)

We have two kitties from you guys and they are both doing great. When we adopted Ollie we had some problems with him getting along with Jazzie, however once we got the Feliway they seemed to tolerate one another a little better. They still have daily tiffs however they seem to be getting along much better. Ollie, formerly "Jelly Bean" is such a lover. He is extremely social and he loves to cuddle. He is not the brightest kitty in the world, he sometimes gets lost in our house and it is sort of funny because we have a VERY small house. Jazzie, is a kitty I adopted from you all 4 years ago. She is doing great. She is healthy and happy. She saved my life when I was going through an extremely tough loss in my life and made all the difference to come home to every day. The two of them are slowly but surely getting along. Time will definitely be the best thing for them, and once Ollie begins to calm down a bit I think they will be just fine together. Thanks so much for helping us out and working with us. I know it was a tough experience for us all. He is doing well and says MEOW!

Bach is doing absolutely great, although he goes by Buddha now!!! He is the sweetest cat that we have ever met!! He is loving his apartment and he also really really likes the steps that We built for him all along the walls in our apartment. He hops from step to step all the time and he also loves his balcony that we put up for him in our room so he can have his own private bedroom!! I wanted to get you a picture of Miss Kitty (Domino) , but I didn't have

finally got around to doing it. The dog gets along fine with the cat.

Here's Millie (aka Waffles)!

She is loving her new home with me and my other cat, Monday.

Her favorite game is playing fetch (yes, fetch!) with a little mouse. I'll throw it, and she'll retrieve it and bring it right back to me to throw again. She can do this dozens of times and not get tired!!! Millie has so much energy and is SO affectionate! She's sometimes a terror (knocking things over, chewing things up), but I love her to pieces. She's a great addition to my family. :)
